Mynt’s strong investor lineup backs GCash’s solid long-term fundamentals

Mynt Inc.’s roster of more than 20 local and foreign institutional investors for its P92.32 billion initial public offering underscores the firm’s strong long-term fundamentals. The lineup includes major international names making their first such commitments in the Philippines or Southeast Asia, signaling deep confidence in GCash and the country’s digital economy.

Eric Jurado, hedge fund manager at SeA Focus Portfolio, explained that these professional investors have completed thorough due diligence and concluded Mynt offers a compelling long-term opportunity. He noted that cornerstone capital from global managers means putting their own investors’ funds behind a company they believe will grow, though no investment carries guaranteed returns. He added that investing in Mynt is also an investment in the ongoing digitization of the Philippine economy, with plenty of remaining room for digital financial services to expand and deliver shareholder value.

International funds including Albizia Capital Pte. Ltd., Amundsen Investment Management, and HSBC Global Asset Management (UK) Limited are making their first cornerstone investments in the Philippines through this offering. Ninety One North America Inc. and Ninety One UK Limited are participating as cornerstone investors in Southeast Asia for the first time. Jurado emphasized these institutions are not investing simply because GCash is a well-known brand but because they see meaningful business growth ahead. Their commitments provide a strong early signal that some of the world’s most sophisticated investors view GCash not just as the country’s leading finance super app but as a long-term growth story for the Philippines.

These pledges fill the entire 70 percent allocation set aside for qualified institutional investors. The offering covers a base of 8.027 billion shares—1.61 billion primary and 6.42 billion secondary—plus an over-allotment option for an additional 1.2 billion secondary shares. Indicative pricing stands at P10 per share, though earlier reports noted initial interest around P6.50 per share. Share pricing is set for October 1, the public offering period runs October 6 to 12, and trading on the Philippine Stock Exchange begins October 20 under the ticker GCASH.
