The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has approved four new motorcycle taxi (MT) companies to operate exclusively in Central Luzon and CALABARZON (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon). The newly accredited firms—Taxsee Philippines, ParaXpress, GrabBike, and Dingdong—will each have a cap of 2,000 riders. LTFRB chairman Teofilo Guadiz clarified the four are the only additions to the list of licensed transportation network companies (TNCs) under the supervision of the Motorcycle Taxi Technical Working Group (MT TWG).
Guadiz emphasized that, due to saturation in Metro Manila, no new TNCs will be allowed in the region. He also addressed complaints about unregistered MT operators in areas like Lipa City, particularly Angkas, which is not among the newly accredited players.
Senator JV Ejercito raised concerns during a Senate hearing, urging the LTFRB to ensure that the new firms maintain high safety standards, as motorcycles account for over half of the country’s vehicular accidents. The LTFRB assured compliance with safety protocols in the newly-accredited regions.
