The New NAIA Infrastructure Corp. (NNIC) is gearing up for an unprecedented surge in passenger traffic at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), with passenger numbers expected to hit 2.296 million from December 20 to January 3, marking a 10.95 percent increase from last year. The peak period is projected to surpass even the busy Undas season in terms of volume.
To manage the anticipated crowd, NNIC has partnered with key agencies such as the MIAA, DOTr, and PNP-AVSEGROUP to ramp up security, staffing, and terminal operations. Additional measures include more check-in counters, optimized passenger flow, and improved security protocols.
Ramon S. Ang, NNIC president, emphasized the company’s commitment to ensuring a safe and comfortable holiday experience. Since taking over NAIA management 90 days ago, NNIC has introduced several upgrades, including new air conditioning, faster Wi-Fi, additional ground transport lanes, and 2,500 new trolleys to enhance passenger convenience.
Passengers are advised to arrive early—2.5 to 4 hours before their flights—and stay updated on their flight status via airline websites. NNIC is confident that these measures will ensure a smoother holiday travel experience at NAIA.
