Globe Telecom Inc. has announced the construction of over 30 new cell sites in Cebu throughout 2024, strengthening its network infrastructure and enhancing connectivity across the province. This strategic expansion is set to play a pivotal role in supporting Cebu’s digital transformation and the growth of its tourism sector.
The new Globe towers will improve mobile and data services, delivering faster and more reliable connectivity. This development is crucial for bridging communication gaps, improving access to education, healthcare, and financial platforms, and enabling local communities to fully engage in the digital economy.
Cebu’s significance as a hub for commerce, manufacturing, and tourism is further bolstered by its robust infrastructure, including established ports, an international airport, and an evolving innovation ecosystem. Globe’s network enhancements are expected to complement these strengths by providing more Cebuanos with the digital tools needed to participate in emerging economic opportunities.
Notably, Globe’s expanded network is already demonstrating its value during the Sinulog Festival, where seamless communication supports the influx of visitors and the tourism sector, a key economic driver for the region.

Cebu’s economic importance is underscored by its 2023 gross domestic product (GDP) of P1.01 trillion, representing 29.8 percent of the region’s total GDP, according to the Philippine Statistics Authority. This highlights Cebu’s critical role in driving Central Visayas’ overall economic growth.
