Cebu Pacific fuels growth in Cebu, carries 5.6M passengers in 2024

Cebu Pacific (CEB) achieved a significant milestone on Monday, announcing that it flew over 5.6 million passengers to and from Cebu in 2024. This accounted for nearly 50 percent of total passenger traffic at the Mactan-Cebu International Airport, which recorded 11.3 million passengers for the year.

The airline’s growth was driven by strong travel demand and strategic network expansion, allowing Cebu Pacific to ramp up its operations out of Cebu. In January this year, the airline reported a 34.7 percent increase in the number of flights, with 4,824 departures compared to 3,580 in January 2024. Seat capacity surged 51.6 percent, jumping from nearly 473,000 to over 717,000.

“Cebu Pacific’s continued growth in Cebu reflects the strong demand for affordable and accessible air travel in Central Visayas,” said Xander Lao, president and chief commercial officer of Cebu Pacific. “By increasing our flights and seat capacity, we are not only connecting more passengers but also supporting tourism, trade, and economic opportunities across the region.”

This expansion supports Cebu Pacific’s mission to provide more accessible travel options to passengers, especially in Central Visayas, connecting people, fostering exploration, and enabling new opportunities both regionally and internationally.

Cebu Pacific operates direct flights to 24 domestic and six international destinations from Mactan-Cebu International Airport, contributing to its broader network of 37 domestic and 26 international destinations across Asia, Australia, and the Middle East.
