    DICT Secretary Ivan John Uy resigns amid leadership transition

    The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) confirmed on Friday the resignation of Secretary Ivan John E. Uy on Thursday, following President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. ‘s acceptance of his resignation. Despite the leadership change, the DICT assured the public that there would be no disruption in its services during the transition.

    As the third secretary of the DICT, Uy played a pivotal role in advancing President Marcos’ digitalization agenda. He led the rollout of significant government solutions, such as the eGovPH App, eTravel, eLGU, and eReport, which have been instrumental in enhancing the government’s digital services. Under his leadership, the Free Public Internet Access Program expanded to over 16,000 active sites nationwide, marking the program’s widest reach since its inception in 2017.

    Uy also oversaw the issuance of an updated National Cybersecurity Plan, significantly strengthening the country’s digital infrastructure. His tenure contributed to improved global standing in digital transformation, cybersecurity, and connectivity.

    The DICT expressed deep gratitude for Uy’s invaluable contributions to the country’s ICT sector and digital transformation. The department further emphasized that it remains committed to fulfilling President Marcos’ vision of an inclusive and innovative “Bagong Pilipinas” for all.
