Thai beverage giants are stepping up their push into the Philippines, betting on surging demand for specialty drinks and globally inspired lifestyle concepts among Filipino consumers.
During recent meetings in Bangkok with Trade Secretary Cristina Roque, executives of ChaTraMue highlighted the brand’s strong traction since entering the Philippine market in 2023 and outlined plans to accelerate expansion beyond Metro Manila.
Known for its more than 80-year heritage, the iconic Thai tea brand is eyeing growth through franchising and broader product distribution, leveraging its premium tea offerings and established global footprint to tap into Filipinos’ growing appetite for international food and beverage experiences.
ChaTraMue’s expansion reflects a wider trend of foreign specialty drink brands gaining ground in the local market, supported by a young, urban consumer base and a culture increasingly open to premium, experience-driven concepts.

In a separate engagement, Philippine officials also discussed growth plans with Café Amazon and its operator, PTT Oil and Retail Business Public Company Limited. The Thai coffee chain is exploring ways to scale up its presence in the country as part of its broader regional expansion strategy.
Discussions with Café Amazon centered on expanding store networks, strengthening retail visibility, and tailoring offerings to evolving Philippine consumer preferences. The brand is positioning itself to compete in a crowded coffee market by emphasizing accessibility, consistent quality, and integration within mixed-use and transport-linked locations.
Café Amazon is owned and managed by PTT Public Company Limited, Thailand’s largest state-owned oil and gas firm, giving it the financial muscle to support long-term regional growth.
Together, the expansion plans of ChaTraMue and Café Amazon underscore rising foreign investor confidence in the Philippines’ consumer sector, particularly in niche beverage segments where demand continues to outpace traditional food service growth.
