SM MOA Arena surpasses 2,400 total shows milestone

SM Mall of Asia Arena has crossed more than 2,400 shows since opening in 2012, cementing its position as the Philippines’ premier indoor events venue amid rising demand for large-scale entertainment and sports productions.

In 2025, the 15,000-seat arena hosted over 200 events and drew more than 1.1 million attendees, a 10 percent increase from the previous year, underscoring strong post-pandemic recovery and sustained appetite for live experiences.

The venue has become a regular stop for global artists including Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, Maroon 5, and BTS, alongside major international tournaments such as the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup and the 2025 FIVB Men’s Volleyball World Championship.

SM Prime Holdings president Jeffrey C. Lim said the sustained growth reflects strong demand for professionally managed venues capable of hosting global-scale productions. He added that continued investments in arena infrastructure are aligned with the company’s broader strategy to strengthen integrated developments, boost tourism, and enhance live entertainment experiences.

To support rising technical and audience expectations, SM Prime has accelerated upgrades across the facility.

In 2025, the company completed a USD2.1-million installation of a center-hung LED system supplied by Daktronics, significantly improving visual clarity, broadcast quality, and production flexibility.

Earlier enhancements to digital signage, ticketing, and entry systems have also been deployed to improve crowd movement, security, and operational efficiency, particularly during high-attendance international concerts and sporting events.

Industry observers note that the arena’s ability to consistently attract top-tier global acts has helped position Metro Manila as a competitive destination in the Asia-Pacific live events circuit.

With its expanding event calendar and ongoing capital investments, SM MOA Arena is expected to remain a central hub in the country’s entertainment and sports economy.

Officials said continued expansion of live entertainment infrastructure will further strengthen Manila’s position as a regional hub for touring productions industry.
