Travel fair banking on local wanderlust

The Philippine Travel Mart (PTM) is returning in 2026 with a fresh pitch for a tourism industry that is not only bigger, but smarter, greener, and more inclusive. Apparently, even vacations now come with sustainability goals.

Organized by the Philippine Tour Operators Association (PHILTOA), the 37th edition of the country’s longest-running travel fair will take place from September 4 to 6, at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City, gathering key players from across the tourism value chain under one roof, and likely under one aggressively discounted airfare promo.

This year’s theme, “Nurturing the NextGen Tourism,” reflects the industry’s growing push toward sustainability, digitalization, wellness, and inclusive travel experiences. Anchored on the “Discover Your Philippines” campaign, the event aims to encourage more Filipinos to explore domestic destinations as local tourism continues to rebound and evolve.

Expect the usual crowd favorites: discounted tour packages, hotel deals, airfare promos, and travel bundles persuasive enough to make even the most financially disciplined traveler suddenly consider a beach trip on a random Thursday.

Tour operators, hotels, resorts, airlines, transport groups, local government units, and tourism-related businesses are expected to participate, alongside the Department of Tourism and its regional offices, including the Cordillera Administrative Region and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.

PHILTOA president and 37th PTM organizing committee chair Ma. Lourdes F. Japson said the event underscores the industry’s commitment to supporting local communities while strengthening domestic tourism.

Beyond bargain hunting, visitors can also expect travel talks, cultural performances, and destination showcases designed to remind Filipinos that paradise may actually be just one delayed domestic flight away.

Tickets will be available online via PHILTOA’s website starting July 2026.
