AboitizPower, MOELCI-I sign emergency power deal for Misamis Occidental

Therma South, Inc. (TSI), a subsidiary of Aboitiz Power Corporation, has signed a two-megawatt Emergency Power Supply Agreement (EPSA) with Misamis Occidental I Electric Cooperative, Inc. (MOELCI-I) to help ensure stable electricity supply in Oroquieta City and seven municipalities in the province.

The agreement will benefit customers in Oroquieta City, Aloran, Lopez Jaena, Plaridel, Calamba, Baliangao, Sapang Dalaga, and Concepcion amid growing energy challenges in Mindanao.

The ceremonial signing was led by AboitizPower head of revenue operations James Yu and MOELCI-I general manager Guilvin Medina, along with other officials from both organizations.

Medina said the partnership reflects the long-standing trust between the two groups, noting that TSI has supported MOELCI-I for more than a decade. He added that the agreement is the first emergency power supply arrangement of its kind for TSI.

Yu said AboitizPower remains committed to supporting its partners, especially during critical situations, and expressed pride in being part of TSI’s first-ever EPSA.

AboitizPower said the agreement forms part of its continuing efforts to help provide reliable electricity as Mindanao’s energy market evolves.
