ECOP pushes reforms, AI, and investor confidence

The Employers Confederation of the Philippines (ECOP) is calling for sweeping reforms to make the Philippine economy more dynamic, resilient, and attractive to investors.

During its 47th National Conference of Employers at The Manila Hotel, ECOP unveiled a comprehensive agenda for collaboration among business, government, and labor to address mounting global and domestic challenges. These include inflationary pressures, oil price volatility, geopolitical tensions, climate risks, and rapid technological change.

Key priorities highlighted by ECOP include upskilling the workforce, expanding education and training programs, strengthening social protection, and implementing “just transition” strategies to help workers adapt to evolving industries.

The group also emphasized the responsible, human-centered adoption of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies, addressing concerns over job displacement, skills mismatches, diversity and inclusion, and supply chain resilience.

ECOP urged stakeholders to develop a sustainable framework for the growing platform economy that balances innovation and flexibility with worker protection. The resolutions also stressed the importance of good governance, transparency, accountability, and respect for the rule of law as foundational elements for long-term economic stability and investor confidence.

By adopting these resolutions, ECOP aims to guide its future engagement with government agencies, industry associations, and international partners. The group reinforced its commitment to representing the interests of Philippine employers while advocating policies that strengthen enterprises, boost competitiveness, and foster a more sustainable economic future.

With its new agenda, ECOP positions itself at the forefront of efforts to prepare the Philippine economy and workforce for a fast-evolving global landscape, ensuring businesses can thrive while workers are supported through technological and industrial transformation.
