PH sustainable fashion makes global splash in HK

The Philippines made a bold statement in the global sustainable fashion scene, raking in over USD322,000 in export sales at the Hong Kong Fashion and Home Expo 2026. Led by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and CITEM, the delegation showcased the country’s unique blend of heritage, innovation, and eco-conscious design.

Of the total, USD39,398 came from retail, while USD283,995 were secured through export deals, reflecting strong buyer confidence. Over four days, the Philippine delegation engaged more than 100 international buyers, generating over 300 trade inquiries.

Under the FASHIONPhilippines banner, 26 Filipino brands shone at the NEXT@Fashion InStyle exhibit, presenting designs that fuse traditional craftsmanship with sustainable innovation.

A standout was the use of indigenous fibers like pineapple leaf and abaca, developed by DOST-PTRI through the Telang Pinoy initiative, proving that locally sourced, eco-friendly textiles can compete globally.

The FASHIONPhilippines Parade: A Symphony of Heritage and Style wowed 100 industry professionals, spotlighting brands like Bayo, Abacatex, Thian Rodriguez, and artisan accessories by Arnel Papa. A concurrent forum highlighted the Philippines’ rise as a sustainable fashion hub, blending traditional weaving with cutting-edge materials.

With strong sales, robust buyer engagement, and groundbreaking eco-fashion innovations, the Philippines is cementing its place as a global leader in responsible, culturally rooted design.
