LRTA launches free parking at LRT-2 Legarda Station to cut costs, ease traffic

The Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) has introduced free parking services at LRT-2 Legarda Station starting May 25, Monday. This move comes as oil prices continue to rise, aiming to persuade private vehicle owners to shift to public transport, bringing clear economic benefits to commuters and the wider community.

Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez noted the program offers more than just free parking. It is designed to lower overall transport expenses, cut fuel spending, shorten travel time, and reduce heavy traffic on roads—all of which help ease daily living costs and improve productivity. “This free parking is a big help. Passengers save money they would otherwise spend on gasoline or diesel, and they reach their destinations much faster too,” Lopez explained.

The service follows the successful launch of the same program at Santolan Station last April 21, 2026, expanding accessible, cost-saving options for more commuters.

Free parking is open daily from 4:00 AM to 11:30 PM, available on a first-come, first-served basis exclusively for LRT-2 riders. To avail of the service:

1. Get a parking stub from LRTA security upon entering the parking area.

2. Have the stub validated at the Passenger Assistance Office at your destination station.

3. Present the validated stub to security when exiting.

Motorists are reminded to park only in marked spaces, keep vehicles locked, and avoid leaving valuables inside their cars.
