ESEC gets green light for 98.2 MW Capiz solar project

EcoSolar Energy Corp. (ESEC), a member of the Yuchengco Group, has secured an Environmental Compliance Certificate (ECC) for its 98.20 MW solar plant in Panitan, Capiz. Issued by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, the permit confirms the project meets environmental standards and marks a major step toward construction.

As the first utility-scale solar facility in the province, the development qualifies for government incentives under the Green Energy Auction Program. Once operational by late 2028, it will be the largest solar facility of parent firm PetroGreen Energy Corp. and will supply much-needed power to the Visayas grid, which has recently faced supply alerts.

The project also features agrivoltaic design, combining energy generation with farming to support both food and power security. It is expected to create local jobs, boost community income, and fund development programs in host barangays. ESEC is part of PetroEnergy Resources Corp., which operates several renewable energy plants across the country and manages oil assets overseas.

This development strengthens renewable energy capacity in the Visayas, addresses power supply concerns, and demonstrates how clean energy investments can deliver both economic and community benefits through dual-use land technology.
