ABS-CBN goes global via new Rakuten Viki partnership

ABS-CBN is widening its international reach through a new deal with streaming platform Rakuten Viki, making selected programs available to viewers in over 200 countries and territories across the Americas, Europe, Oceania, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia. Titles come with subtitles in English, Spanish, Portuguese, and French, with more languages set to be added through Viki’s community-powered translation network.

This collaboration marks another major step in ABS-CBN’s shift toward becoming a global storytelling brand, bringing Filipino stories and talent to global audiences through streaming, broadcast, and digital channels. Among the first shows launched on the platform are the local adaptation of hit Korean series It’s Okay to Not Be Okay, starring Anne Curtis, Joshua Garcia, and Carlo Aquino, which explores mental health and works to reduce related stigma in the Philippine setting. Also included are award-winning youth romance series He’s Into Her and its second season, led by Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano—titles recognized at the Asian Academy Creative Awards, Seoul International Drama Awards, and the Venice TV Awards.

Rakuten Viki is a leading global destination for Asian entertainment with more than 120 million registered users, and the partnership significantly expands the footprint of ABS-CBN content worldwide. The move follows another recent milestone: drama series 2 Good 2 Be True became the first Philippine show to air on free-to-air television in the Middle East via Dubai One.

These efforts highlight the company’s ongoing transformation, with ABS-CBN having now distributed over 50,000 hours of programming—covering drama, lifestyle, entertainment, and news—to more than 50 countries. Its YouTube channel, ABS-CBN Entertainment, also remains the top media and entertainment channel in Southeast Asia with 54.8 million subscribers. Facilitated by ABS-CBN’s International Sales Division, the agreement supports the company’s broader goal of growing its distribution business and connecting with viewers everywhere.
