Laguna Water, a subsidiary of Manila Water Non-East Zone, has given refrigerated drinking fountains to six public schools in Biñan, Laguna, in time for the 2026–2027 school year opening and this year’s Brigada Eskwela. This forms part of its flagship Lingap Laguna project, launched in 2024 to bring clean, safe water to public areas, and marks the second round of donations under the program.
The recipient schools are Biñan Secondary School of Applied Academics, plus Canlalay, Platero, Mamplasan, Tomas A. Turalba Memorial, and Loma Elementary Schools. Selection was done with the Biñan city government, while the turnover ceremony included representatives from the Department of Education’s Biñan division, Laguna provincial officials, and partners from the Provincial Government of Laguna and Manila Water Foundation.
School division head Dr. Arlene Ricasata noted that proper nutrition and hydration are key to effective learning, especially amid high heat levels in the country. Provincial board member Flaviano Pecaña emphasized the growing importance of safe drinking water, as environmental changes have made old water sources risky and prone to causing illness.
Laguna Water’s regulatory affairs head Lheizel De Jesus said the effort supports community health and student development, adding that the company stands with educators and families in investing in children’s future. Manila Water Foundation executive director Reginald Andal echoed this, stating that water and hygiene facilities help keep students healthy, present in class, and better able to learn.
Since its launch, Lingap Laguna has provided drinking fountains to 17 schools and handwashing stations to five institutions. Officials plan to expand the project further to reach more schools and public facilities across the province.
