The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) has allocated ₱15.1 billion in emergency assistance for over 608,000 members and pensioners affected by the magnitude 7.8 earthquake in Mindanao, president and general manager Wick Veloso announced.
Qualified active members and pensioners in areas under a state of calamity can apply for the Emergency Loan Program until September 7, 2026. Borrowers may get up to ₱40,000 if they have an existing emergency loan, or up to ₱20,000 if they do not. The loan has a 6 percent annual interest rate, payable over 36 months, with funds sent directly to their ATM cards. Applications are accepted via the GSIS Touch app.
GSIS is also ready to fast-track insurance claims for government agencies and policyholders with damaged properties. Those affected are urged to file claims immediately and may reach out through the 24/7 hotline or designated email addresses for assistance. The agency said it remains fully prepared to speed up processing to support recovery efforts.
