Philippine Blockchain Week 2026 opened on June 19 at SMX Convention Center with the “Future of Trust: A Leaders Forum on Technology and Governance”. The event gathered senior officials from government agencies, regulatory bodies, financial institutions, telecommunications firms, cybersecurity experts and technology organizations to discuss how technology can strengthen public trust and become national infrastructure.

Discussions focused on the combined role of blockchain, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity in improving transparency, public services and business resilience. Key participants included representatives from DICT, SEC, Maharlika Investment Corporation, UnionBank, Globe Telecom, DITO Telecommunity and Philippine Seven Corporation.

A major highlight was the launch of the Integrity Chain initiative, a collaboration between DICT, Blockchain Council of the Philippines and industry partners. The signing of the related Memorandum of Understanding marked a step toward using blockchain systems to enhance accountability and transparency in public operations.

Leaders also explored real-world applications such as tokenized assets, digital investment opportunities and the role of local governments in delivering trusted digital services. Attendees agreed that cross-sector cooperation is essential for the Philippines to become a global example of responsible digital innovation.

Philippine Blockchain Week president Janelle Barretto stated: “When government regulators, industry leaders, technology experts, and engaged citizens have meaningful conversations, meaningful change becomes possible.” The event served as the opening activity for the fifth year of Philippine Blockchain Week, setting the direction for the country’s digital future.
