Customs beats June goal, stays on track for P1T goal

The Bureau of Customs (BOC) sustained its strong revenue momentum in June, collecting P86.07 billion and surpassing its monthly target by P2.83 billion as stronger trade flows and tighter customs enforcement continued to lift collections.

Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary Claire Castro said the bureau also exceeded its first-half revenue goal, generating P491.75 billion from January to June, or P11.48 billion above target. The six-month haul was 7.2 percent higher than collections during the same period in 2025.

The performance reflects the BOC’s sustained gains in revenue generation, driven by intensified border enforcement, improved customs administration, and more efficient collection systems amid expanding trade activity.

The latest figures keep the agency firmly on track to achieve its ambitious P1 trillion collection target for 2026, a milestone that would further strengthen the government’s fiscal position as it ramps up spending on infrastructure, social services, and other priority programs.

Beyond the numbers, the BOC’s steady revenue growth underscores the broader role of customs in economic management. Higher collections not only signal healthy import activity but also point to stronger compliance and more effective efforts to curb smuggling and plug revenue leakages.

With nearly half a trillion pesos already collected in the first six months of the year, the bureau enters the second half with solid momentum. Maintaining that pace will be key to supporting the government’s development agenda while reinforcing fiscal stability without relying on new taxes.
