Globe honored by DICT as PH nears 100% internet access

Decades of efforts to connect the Philippines’ over 7,000 islands are nearing success, with full nationwide internet access expected by end-July, DICT Secretary Henry Aguda announced during the close of 2026 National ICT Month and the agency’s 10th anniversary.

The DICT awarded Globe the Digital Bayani sa Last Mile Award and a special recognition for its work bridging the digital divide. Globe CEO Carl Cruz noted the value of public-private collaboration, citing the firm’s 2025 rollout of 1,500+ 5G sites and 115,000 new fiber lines. Globe is also using Starlink satellite service to reach remote areas, supporting the government’s Philippine Digital Infrastructure Project to build a unified national high-speed network.
