Manila Water is strengthening water supply reliability across its East Zone concession through a full set of contingency resources, serving nearly eight million customers amid rising demand and shifting weather patterns. Its backup facilities include up to 40 million liters daily from Balara Treatment Plants backwash recovery, 15 million liters from the Marikina Portable Treatment Plant, 20 million liters from the Luzon Water Treatment Plant, 50 to 118 million liters from standby deep wells, and 10 million liters from Alat Reservoir rain catchers. The firm also operates 40 line boosters plus 12 standby units for steady distribution pressure, alongside alternative power systems to avoid disruptions during outages. Beyond emergency assets, Manila Water is optimizing existing sources, linking supply networks, building new projects, keeping non-revenue water under 15 percent, and encouraging responsible usage to secure long-term water availability.
