Prime Global Corp. has expanded its manufacturing footprint with the opening of a P600-million Barrio Fiesta production facility in San Jose del Monte, Bulacan, a move that triples capacity as the company positions itself to meet rising demand at home and overseas.
The one-hectare, highly automated plant, which officially opened on June 9, will manufacture Barrio Fiesta’s signature bagoong and Kiks Tamarind products while improving production efficiency and supporting the company’s long-term expansion strategy.
The investment reflects a broader trend among Philippine food manufacturers ramping up capacity to capitalize on growing consumer demand and export opportunities for Filipino food products.
The new facility also houses the Hortaleza Research Institute, highlighting Prime Global’s strategy of pairing larger-scale manufacturing with research and development to accelerate product innovation and strengthen its portfolio of Filipino food and consumer brands.
Led by Chairman and CEO Rolando B. Hortaleza, Prime Global is the parent company of Barrio Fiesta, one of the country’s best-known producers of bagoong, condiments, sauces, marinades and other Filipino food staples. Over the years, the company has diversified into health and wellness products, e-commerce and direct selling while continuing to expand its core food business.
The Bulacan investment is expected to enhance the company’s ability to respond to shifting consumer preferences, develop new products more quickly and improve supply chain efficiency.
By combining automation with research and development under one roof, Prime Global aims to build more globally competitive Filipino brands while reinforcing Barrio Fiesta’s position in both domestic and international markets.
The expansion underscores how continued investment in modern manufacturing is becoming an increasingly important strategy for Philippine food companies seeking to scale operations, improve productivity and capture a larger share of the growing global market for Filipino flavors.
