More than 1,500 young children in El Nido will benefit from a new early education initiative called CENTEX Early Grades, launched through cooperation between the El Nido local government, DepEd Palawan, Palawan State University, and Ayala Foundation.
Running for two school years across eight barangays, the program will train 28 child development workers and 17 kindergarten teachers, provide better learning materials, boost parent involvement, and improve local early education systems for children aged three to five.
The official agreement was signed on June 19, 2026, with support from SC Johnson as part of efforts to address the country’s learning crisis. Officials noted that strong early support helps build lifelong skills and sets children up for future success.
