Toyota Motor Philippines Corp. (TMP) has added three environmental honors to its growing sustainability portfolio after being recognized by the City of Santa Rosa for helping advance green initiatives and climate action through its local operations.
The automaker received the Sustainable Development Partner, Earth Hour Advocate, and Renewable Energy and Efficiency awards during the City of Santa Rosa Green Awards 2026, recognizing its environmental programs in the Laguna city that hosts its manufacturing plant.
The recognition reflects a broader trend of local governments increasingly relying on partnerships with major companies to meet sustainability targets. As environmental standards become more stringent, businesses are expected to contribute not only through cleaner operations but also by supporting community-based conservation and energy initiatives.
“As a mobility company that champions sustainability, TMP remains committed to working with its partners to pursue initiatives that contribute to environmental conservation, climate action and sustainable development,” the company said.
The awards also reinforce the growing importance of environmental, social and governance (ESG) initiatives in corporate strategy. For manufacturers, sustainability is increasingly becoming a competitive advantage as investors, customers and regulators place greater emphasis on responsible business practices.
Toyota has continued to invest in programs that improve energy efficiency, promote renewable energy and reduce its environmental footprint while supporting Santa Rosa’s broader sustainability agenda.
Representing the company at the ceremony were TMP Senior Vice President for General Administration Jhohana Mamonong, Assistant Vice President for Plant and Facility Mark Anthony Marcelo, and TMP Foundation Project Manager Ronnel Andaya, who accepted the Sustainable Development Partner award.
They were joined by Santa Rosa City Environment and Natural Resources Officer Engr. Maria Amor Salandanan, Mayor Arlene Arcillas and other local officials.
The latest recognition highlights how sustainability is becoming a shared responsibility between business and government, with long-term environmental goals increasingly driven by local partnerships alongside national climate policies.
