The Department of Transportation says the Davao Public Transport Modernization Project is on track to begin partial operations in the first quarter of 2028.
Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez also noted the push for electric vehicles lines up with President Marcos Jr.’s call for transport upgrades.
Funded by a $1.014 billion loan from the Asian Development Bank signed in 2023, the project will roll out nearly 1,000 buses—386 electric—across 29 routes covering 673 kilometers.
It will serve 800,000 people daily with safer, more reliable trips and lower emissions.
