The last remaining Philippine squad in the 2026 Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Mid Season Cup finally settled the score with Indonesia’s Team Vitality, pulling off a stirring 3-1 victory Wednesday in Paris to reach the tournament’s final four.
It was more than a win. It was redemption.
Vitality had beaten Team Falcons PH in the group stage, sending the Filipinos into the lower bracket. Brimming with confidence after sweeping Group A, the Indonesians even handpicked Team Falcons PH as their knockout opponent, convinced lightning would strike twice.
Vitality drew first blood, taking the opening game and appearing headed for another convincing victory.
But while Vitality celebrated, Team Falcons PH quietly charted another path to the semifinals. Displaying the poise that has made the Philippines the most successful nation in MSC history with four titles in nine editions, the Filipinos found another gear, winning the next three games behind cleaner execution, sharper drafting, and far more disciplined team fights.
The transformation was striking. The same team that struggled through the group stage suddenly looked composed, confident, and dangerous, as if the lower bracket had sharpened rather than shaken its resolve.
EXP laner David Charles “FlapTzy” Canon admitted the team had not been at its best entering the knockout stage.
“In the last few days, we weren’t playing well. People thought Vitality would win, but here we are,” he said. “We’re still alive.”
The two-day break before the quarterfinals gave Team Falcons PH time to regroup, refine its game plan, and embrace the role of underdog.
“We prepared a good game plan,” FlapTzy said. “We adopted the underdog mindset. With that mindset, we had nothing to lose.”
Nothing, except another chance at the title.
As for finally getting revenge?
“I feel good,” FlapTzy said with a smile. “But I can’t be complacent because we still have a game tomorrow.”
That next assignment is Myanmar’s Yangon Galacticos in the semifinals.
Team Falcons PH has already survived the lower bracket, avenged its most painful defeat of the tournament, and reminded everyone why Philippine Mobile Legends remains the region’s gold standard.
The underdogs, it seems, are done playing like underdogs.
