Aboitiz Power clean energy unit Aboitiz Renewables Inc. has begun building the 239-megawatt Luna solar facility in Cadiz City, Negros Occidental. Set to open in 2028, it involves a 65 MW battery system that will lift the group’s total solar capacity in the province to 471 MW. This is its largest solar project in the Visayas.
Aboitiz Renewables president Jimmy Villaroman said Negros is an ideal hub due to strong sunlight and supportive local policies. The firm now runs 45 clean energy sites nationwide, with over 1,800 MW in the pipeline. It has set a P62 billion 2026 budget focused on renewables and storage. Aboitiz Power leads local power generation with a 23.86% share, and targets 4,600 MW of renewable capacity by 2030.
