Meralco, led by Manuel V. Pangilinan, has upgraded its North Port Substation in Tondo to strengthen network safety and service reliability.
The project boosted 10 power circuit breakers and 19 disconnect switches from 40 kA to 63 kA, plus improved control cables and civil works. These upgrades let the 115-kV substation handle higher fault currents, ensuring more stable and safe power delivery.
Key beneficiaries include Chinese General Hospital, Tondo Medical Center, LRT stations, Mapúa University, and Lyceum of the Philippines University.
Meralco says it will continue investing in network modernization to serve over 8 million customers with a more resilient power system.
