Maya has formalized its support for the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s UPLIFT Assistance initiative, helping the government streamline digital payouts while expanding low-income households’ access to formal financial services.
The firm recently deployed on-ground teams in Navotas City and Quezon City to assist eligible beneficiaries with account creation and verification, preparing them for upcoming digital aid disbursements. The DSWD’s UPLIFT program delivers financial aid to roughly 2.5 million poor, near-poor and low-income Filipino households, with digital channels designed to make support faster, more convenient and widely accessible.
“For us, the opportunity goes beyond digitizing the payout,” said Angelo Madrid, president of Maya Bank. “When people have access to a digital financial account, they can also start using other services that can help them save, make payments and manage their money better. That is an important part of building financial health over time.”
Beneficiaries who select Maya as their payout channel gain access to everyday digital payments, and may also qualify for savings, credit and other banking services through Maya Bank. This transforms government aid from a one-time transfer into a lasting entry point to the formal financial system, while letting users retain full control over their funds.
The initiative aligns directly with the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas’ financial inclusion goals, which emphasize moving beyond basic account access to broader financial service adoption and improved household financial well-being. The central bank’s national strategy also specifically promotes digital solutions for government cash transfers and social safety-net programs.
For Maya, the partnership underscores its role as a key private-sector partner in public service modernization, expanding its user base while advancing national development priorities. The company said it will continue supporting government programs where digital finance can broaden access to essential services and bring more Filipinos into the formal financial ecosystem.
