Toyota, Lexus extend ASEAN 2026 mobility partnership

Toyota Motor Philippines Corp. (TMP) is using the Philippines’ hosting of the 49th ASEAN Summit to showcase Lexus hybrid vehicles while extending a mobility partnership that puts its, premium brand at the center of official transport for visiting leaders.

TMP and the ASEAN National Organizing Council (NOC) signed a supplemental agreement to continue the automaker’s role as an official mobility partner through the ASEAN 2026 culminating meetings in Manila this November.

Through Lexus, TMP will deploy hybrid electric vehicles, including the LS 500h flagship sedan and LM 350h luxury minivan, for heads of state, official delegates, and other dignitaries attending the summit and related meetings.

The extended partnership gives Toyota a high-profile setting to demonstrate hybrid technology as part of its broader electrification strategy, while positioning Lexus as a premium mobility option for government and diplomatic events.

TMP first served as an official mobility partner during the 48th ASEAN Summit in Cebu. The new agreement expands that role to Manila, where ASEAN leaders and dialogue partners will gather for the Philippines’ final major meetings under its 2026 chairmanship.

The agreement was signed by TMP President Masando Hashimoto and ASEAN NOC Director-General for Operations Ma. Hellen B. Dela Vega. Office of the Executive Secretary Undersecretary Leonardo Roy Cervantes, chair of the ASEAN NOC, and Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary Ruth Abigail Sestoso also attended.

The continued use of Lexus hybrids highlights Toyota’s multi-pathway approach to electrification, which includes hybrid electric vehicles alongside other lower-emission technologies.

For TMP, the ASEAN partnership extends beyond providing transportation. It gives the automaker an opportunity to put its premium vehicles and electrification technology in front of an international audience, while reinforcing Lexus’ position in the Philippine luxury vehicle market.

The 49th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits will be held in Manila this November.
