BYD Cars Philippines has already outsold its entire 2025 volume after just eight months of 2026, with sales nearly doubling year on year as demand for plug-in hybrids and fully electric vehicles continues to expand.
The automaker sold 4,682 vehicles in August, lifting January-to-August sales to 28,399 units, up 99 percent from the same period last year and already above the 26,122 units sold for all of 2025.
The milestone came four months before year-end, underscoring the rapid growth of BYD’s Philippine operations.
The company posted its strongest monthly performance in April, selling 5,730 vehicles, up 258 percent from April 2025.
Plug-in hybrids accounted for nearly four-fifths of BYD’s sales in the first eight months. The company sold 22,555 DM-i vehicles, up 95 percent from 11,542 units a year earlier.
The Sealion 6 DM-i remained the best-selling model, with 7,759 units, or 27 percent of total sales. The eMAX 9 DM-i followed with 2,512 units.
Battery-electric vehicle sales more than doubled to 5,844 units from 2,720 units a year earlier, representing 115 percent growth. The eMAX 7 led the BEV lineup with 1,975 units.
“Crossing our full-year 2025 sales is proof that electric vehicles have entered the mainstream in the Philippines,” BYD Cars Philippines Managing Director Bob Palanca said.
BYD has expanded its nationwide dealership network to 81 locations, increasing access to sales and after-sales services as the company grows its electrified vehicle lineup.
The Philippines’ sales growth is also part of BYD’s broader global expansion. The automaker reported 440,293 new-energy vehicle sales worldwide in August.
With four months still left in 2026, BYD’s Philippine sales have already moved beyond last year’s full-year record, putting the company on pace for another year of sharp growth.
