Motorists traveling the San Fernando–Pulilan stretch of the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) resumed paying regular toll rates past midnight, NLEX Corporation announced. This change followed the full reopening of all lanes previously closed due to flooding.
The toll rebate program was put in place under a directive from the Department of Transportation (DOTr) while flood conditions disrupted sections of the expressway. Normal operations resumed at 8:50 a.m. on September 8, when all three lanes in both directions at the San Simon Interchange and Tulaoc sections were opened to all vehicle types.
While general toll-free passage ends, NLEX noted that the temporary toll exemption for provincial buses will remain in effect. The recovery comes after sustained flood mitigation and clearing work carried out with government and private sector partners.
NLEX will continue long-term flood prevention measures in the area. These include dredging the Tulaoc River and conducting clearing and improvement work along the expressway’s embankments. These efforts are designed to boost water flow and lessen flood risks during heavy rains.
The operator reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with authorities and partners to keep the expressway safe, accessible, and better protected against flooding that affects both motorists and nearby communities.
