Ayala Land Inc. is turning stormwater infrastructure at Vertis North into a public amenity, combining flood-mitigation capacity with a two-hectare green space designed for recreation and community use in Quezon City.
Located within the 29-hectare mixed-use estate, the Vertis North Rain Garden can hold up to 5,318 cubic meters, or about 5.3 million liters, of stormwater, helping manage runoff during heavy rainfall while providing open space for residents, workers, and visitors.
The project reflects a broader approach to urban development in which climate-resilience infrastructure is integrated into spaces that serve a daily community purpose.
Beyond storing rainwater, landscaped areas such as the Rain Garden can help filter pollutants, support groundwater recharge, and mitigate urban heat while providing space for recreation and community activities.
Ayala Land highlighted these functions through a campaign launched in 2025 that presented the Rain Garden as both resilience infrastructure and a destination within the estate.
Social media content and community activities helped increase awareness and visits to the site, giving greater visibility to an infrastructure facility that might otherwise have remained largely unnoticed.
The campaign won a Silver Award for Excellence in Brand Strategy at the Marketing Excellence Awards Philippines held Aug. 7 at Grand Hyatt Manila in Taguig.
The recognition adds a marketing dimension to a project whose primary function is climate adaptation, but the Rain Garden’s more significant value lies in how it integrates that function into the estate’s public realm.
For Vertis North, stormwater management is therefore not confined to underground systems or drainage channels. The Rain Garden makes climate-resilience infrastructure visible and usable, creating a space that serves both the estate’s environmental needs and its surrounding community.
