Honda expands Philippine manufacturing role after 10M milestone

Honda Philippines Inc. is looking to deepen its manufacturing role in the region after producing its 10-millionth motorcycle in the country, as the Japanese automaker positions its Philippine operations for further growth.

The milestone was marked at HPI’s manufacturing facility in Batangas, where executives said the company would continue investing in local jobs, workforce development and the broader motorcycle industry.

HPI President Takeshi Kobayashi said the company would build on its long-standing presence in the Philippines by creating jobs, developing workers and supporting industry growth.

The 10-millionth unit was a Click125 Smart Edition in Pearl Arctic White, a model produced for the Philippine market alongside motorcycles serving domestic and export demand.

The milestone also comes as Honda seeks to give HPI a larger role in its regional manufacturing and supply network.

Asian Honda Motor Senior Vice President for Motorcycle Business Koji Sugita said HPI had taken on an important new role in Honda’s “network of mutual supply across Asia and Oceania.”

Honda Motor Co. Executive Managing Officer Minoru Kato said the 10-million-unit milestone should mark the beginning of another growth phase as motorcycle users increasingly seek greater safety, convenience and environmental performance.

“I hope today’s milestone of 10 million units will become the starting point for the next stage of growth for Honda Philippines,” Kato said.

For HPI, the expanded regional role could provide a new avenue for the Batangas plant beyond serving domestic demand, while reinforcing the Philippines’ place in Honda’s Asian production network.

The company said it would continue strengthening its manufacturing operations and pursuing growth in the local motorcycle market.

HPI credited customers, dealers, suppliers, business partners and generations of employees for helping the company reach the 10-million-unit production mark, underscoring the scale of its manufacturing footprint built over decades.
