SMHCC wins awards for workplace inclusion, engagement

SM Hotels and Conventions Corp. (SMHCC) has won two major workplace awards for inclusion and employee engagement, highlighting its efforts to strengthen talent retention and development in the hospitality industry.

SMHCC was named Diversity & Inclusion Champion at the 2026 Altaris Business Awards–Human Resources Awards and later won Best Employee Engagement Program at the TalentView People Insights Awards 2026.

The hospitality company said the awards recognize programs aimed at giving employees across generations, abilities, backgrounds, and identities opportunities to develop and advance.

Its inclusion initiatives include programs supporting women in traditionally male-dominated roles and LGBTQ+ employees, as well as partnerships with organizations advocating for persons with disabilities and senior citizens.

SMHCC was also a finalist for Learning & Development Excellence and Talent Acquisition Excellence at the Altaris awards, making it the only company to appear three times among the seven organizations on the finalists and winners list.

Its employee development programs include We Go Beyond, R.I.S.E., and L.E.A.D. Beyond, while its talent acquisition efforts cover school and institutional partnerships, internships, inclusive hiring, and employer branding.

The separate employee engagement award recognizes initiatives designed to strengthen employees’ connection to the company, participation in workplace activities, and sense of belonging.

“These recognitions affirm that our people strategies are not simply programs on paper. They are reflected in the experiences of our employees every day,” SMHCC Vice President for Human Resources and Organizational Development Charmagne Adonis said.

Adonis said the company remains focused on creating an environment where employees feel “heard, valued, connected, and empowered to contribute.”

For SMHCC, the awards point to a broader human resources strategy that treats inclusion, employee development, and engagement as part of its approach to building a stronger and more sustainable workforce.
