PayJoy, Kservico expand smartphone financing beyond cities

PayJoy Philippines is expanding its smartphone financing reach through a partnership with appliance and electronics retailer Kservico, using nearly 170 stores across Metro Manila and Luzon to bring device financing closer to consumers outside major urban centers.

Under the partnership, customers purchasing eligible smartphones at participating Kservico branches can apply for PayJoy financing as part of the in-store transaction, creating an alternative route to smartphone ownership for consumers who may have limited access to traditional credit.

The tie-up comes as smartphones increasingly function as gateways to employment, education, entrepreneurship and digital financial services, making access to affordable devices an important part of digital inclusion.

“Digital inclusion requires more than connectivity. People also need access to the devices that allow them to participate,” PayJoy Philippines Country Manager Joseph Lim said.

He said partnerships with established physical retailers can extend technology-enabled financing to consumers who may otherwise have fewer options for purchasing smartphones.

For Kservico, the agreement also provides an opportunity to expand its reach in underserved markets while adding financing options to its retail offering.

Kservico President Grace Balingit said the partnership had been two years in the making and would help the retailer serve more customers in areas beyond major commercial centers.

“Together with PayJoy, we hope to help more Filipinos access the dream smartphones they need while reaching even more communities in far-flung areas through accessible financing options,” Balingit said.

The companies said the partnership is aimed at translating smartphone ownership into greater access to digital opportunities, including online learning, job applications, small-business operations and financial services.

For PayJoy, the physical retail network provides a broader distribution channel for its financing platform. For Kservico, the tie-up strengthens its ability to serve price-sensitive customers while responding to rising demand for smartphones as essential digital tools.
