BSP launches 2026 Financial Education Roadshow in Cebu

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) launched its Financial Education Roadshow on Tuesday at the BSP Visayas Regional Office. The initiative aims to boost financial education and inclusion across regions, and also introduced the proposed National Strategy for Financial Education.

BSP Deputy Governor Bernadette Romulo-Puyat emphasized that financial education must be practical and useful in daily life. “It helps us answer questions that may seem simple, but can shape our financial future,” she said. The goal, she added, goes beyond knowledge alone: “We want the confidence to make sound financial decisions.”

The event brought together government agencies, financial institutions, non-government groups, schools, and key community groups—including youth, families of overseas Filipino workers, farmers, fisherfolk, and small business owners. Attendees took part in panel discussions on public and private sector financial education work, plus learning sessions on cybersecurity, scam prevention, financial consumer protection, and responsible credit card use.

New free e-learning modules were also introduced: one on responsible credit card use (developed with the Credit Card Association of the Philippines) and another on credit scores (made with TransUnion Philippines). These will soon be accessible to the public via the BSP E-Learning Academy. BSP-supervised institutions also offered account opening assistance and product orientations to expand access to formal financial services.

This roadshow is part of the central bank’s ongoing nationwide efforts to raise financial literacy, protect consumers, and promote broader financial inclusion.
