AIA Philippines and SM Prime Holdings have opened AIA Stadium at SM Seaside City Cebu, adding a new venue for grassroots football, wellness programs, and community sports activities.
The facility is intended to bring organized football closer to athletes, young players, enthusiasts, and families while supporting broader efforts to promote active and healthy lifestyles.
“The launch of AIA Stadium, through our partnership with SM Prime Holdings, marks an important milestone in our commitment to helping Filipinos live Healthier, Longer, Better Lives,” said Katherine Wong, interim chief marketing officer of AIA Philippines.
SM Supermalls–Visayas Vice President for Operations Michelle Leslie Llanos said the facility would help strengthen Cebu’s football ecosystem and provide more opportunities for young athletes to train and develop their skills.
Cebu City Mayor Nestor Archival Sr. welcomed the investment, saying the stadium adds to the city’s growing sports infrastructure and gives aspiring athletes and residents a place to learn, train, and play.
AIA Stadium opened with the two-day AIA Healthiest Schools Football Clinic, which brought together 100 students and 30 local coaches and teachers.
The clinic was supported by the Philippine Football Federation, Tottenham Hotspur Football Club, the Department of Education Cebu City Division, and the Cebu City government.
The program combined football training with lessons on health and wellness, extending the stadium’s role beyond sports facilities.
It included a training-of-trainers session for coaches from 11 Cebu City schools, led by Tottenham Hotspur coach Shannon Moloney, followed by a football clinic for students.
AIA said developing local coaches is key to sustaining youth football programs and expanding access to structured training in communities.
The company said the partnership with SM Prime is aimed at creating more opportunities for community-led sports development while making quality football experiences more accessible to Filipino youth.
The opening adds to Cebu’s sports infrastructure as interest in grassroots football and school-based athletics continues to develop.
