BSP-PES knowledge sharing event in Davao to advance evidenced-based policy

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) and Philippine Economic Society (PES) held their second nationwide Knowledge Sharing Event (KSE) here today at the BSP Mindanao Regional Office. Under “Putting Policy to the Test: Basics of Impact Evaluation,” the forum gathered researchers, policymakers, educators, and students to promote evidence-based decisions and smarter public resource use.

Designed to boost economic literacy and inspire youth to pursue economics and related fields, the event featured key insights. Monetary Board Member Rosalia V. de Leon noted impact evaluation reveals what works, lifting policy and community outcomes. BSP Assistant Governor Maria Margarita Debuque-Gonzales urged students to value critical thinking over having all answers.

Experts from PIDS, DBM, PSA, and BSP discussed evaluation practices, budget efficiency, regional economic trends, and the BSP’s role. The series launched in July 2026; next stops are Cebu (October) and Baguio (November).
