The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) is set to complete six major transmission projects aggregating P23.54 billion before the close of 2026, following also the completion of five flagship facilities worth another P7.19 billion earlier this year. Once all 11 projects are delivered, the entire investment total P30.73 billion.
In a statement, the ongoing undertakings include the P7.42-billion Nabas-Caticlan-Boracay transmission line, the most expensive in the batch, alongside the P4.52-billion North Luzon Substation Upgrading Project 1 and the Mindanao Substation Expansion 4 worth P3.66 billion. Completing the list are the P3.55-billion Panay-Guimaras 138-kV Interconnection Project, the P3.52-billion Tuguegarao-Lal-lo (Magapit) 230-kV Transmission Line Project, and the P872-million Nasipit Substation Bus-in Project.
Earlier this year, NGCP completed five key facilities: the P2.82-billion Laguindingan 230-kV Substation in May, P2.46-billion Tacurong-Kalamansig 69-kV Transmission Line in June, P1.04-billion Visayas Substation Reliability Project 2 in April, P744-million Nagsaag-Tumana 69-kV Transmission Line in June, and the P121-million Visayas 69-kV Transmission Line Upgrading Project also in June.
The completed and upcoming projects strengthen the reliability of the country’s power grid, expand transmission capacity, and improve power delivery across Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao. As private operator, NGCP’s capital expenditure and cost recovery plans require approval from the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC), which sets the firm’s annual allowable revenue and acts as quasi-judicial body overseeing matters affecting electricity rates.
