The Philippines and European Union have completed free trade talks, and the country’s top business group says small and medium enterprises stand to gain the most.
The Philippines is only the third nation to strike such a deal with the EU. PCCI President Perry A. Ferrer calls it a landmark win that opens doors to the world’s biggest markets.
Annual PH-EU trade already hits €17 billion. The FTA lets MSMEs export more easily, attract investment, and compete globally — no longer just large firms.
“Our small businesses must get ready. This agreement unlocks new growth,” Ferrer said.
He urged quick ratification so benefits come sooner. PCCI will run info and training programs to help MSMEs understand the rules, access support, and join global supply chains.
“We stand with government to equip every enterprise — especially the small ones — to succeed in Europe,” Ferrer added.
