Jollibee expands partnership with First Gen, powering 189 stores with renewable energy

The Jollibee Group is further stepping up its shift to clean energy, teaming up once again with First Gen to run 189 of its company-owned outlets on renewable power. The agreements, signed on September 26, 2026, mark another major milestone in the companies’ growing collaboration under the government’s Retail Aggregation Program, which lets qualified buyers combine their electricity needs and deal directly with suppliers.

These stores make up around 40 percent of all Jollibee Group’s company-owned locations across the country, covering well-loved brands such as Jollibee, Greenwich, Chowking, Red Ribbon, Burger King and Panda Express. First Gen will supply electricity to all these outlets using power generated from its geothermal facilities in Ormoc City and Kananga, Leyte.

This builds on earlier work between the two firms. Back in 2023, First Gen installed more than 17,000 solar panels totaling over 9 megawatts across Jollibee’s commissaries and distribution hubs in Parañaque and Laguna, along with an energy monitoring system, projects that were finished in 2024. Earlier this year, the Danao Commissary in Cebu also began drawing power from rooftop solar panels operated by First Gen, alongside a dedicated 1-megawatt supply from First Gen’s BacMan geothermal plants in Bicol.

For Jollibee, moving nearly 200 stores to renewable energy is about more than just doing good for the planet. “By consolidating eligible stores and improving electricity sourcing, we are demonstrating a practical approach that supports operational efficiency while advancing more sustainable business practices,” shared Bong Filart, Head of Network Development for Jollibee Group-Philippines. The company also plans to expand this program to more stores nationwide as part of its ongoing commitment to environmental responsibility.

From First Gen’s perspective, the partnership brings both business and environmental benefits. “These initiatives will not only help them manage volatile costs but also ensure that their retail and manufacturing operations generate a lower carbon footprint,” said Carlo Vega, First Gen’s Chief Customer Engagement Officer. As the Philippines’ leading renewable energy provider with more than 1,700 megawatts of capacity across geothermal, hydro, wind and solar facilities, First Gen continues to support major businesses in making the transition to cleaner power sources.

This growing alliance shows how large companies can work together to make meaningful progress toward sustainability goals, cutting emissions while building more stable, efficient operations for the long run.
