Facilities Managers, Inc. (FMI) is marking its 30th anniversary with plans to expand its facilities management business through technology adoption, workforce development and international opportunities, building on a three-decade track record that has generated employment for around 6,000 Filipinos.
The company will celebrate its milestone on October 23, 2026, at Dusit Thani Manila under the theme “Building Tomorrow Together,” bringing together employees, clients and business partners.
Founded on October 22, 1996, through a licensing agreement between US-based ServiceMaster and U-BIX Corporation, FMI has grown into a nationwide provider serving clients in healthcare, education, technology and other industries.
Its expansion has been supported by strategic partnerships, including an agreement with Aramark in 2001, and the attainment of ISO 9001 certification in 2003. The company has also broadened its services through Envirostar and Safeway, which strengthen its capabilities in cleaning products and pest control.
Developing a skilled workforce remains central to its strategy. FMI established the TESDA-accredited Facilities Management Academy in 2000 to provide technical and professional training. The institution later evolved into U-BIX Colleges, Inc., offering bachelor’s degree programs and specialized courses.
Technology has become another focus. In 2024, FMI partnered with PUDU Robotics to introduce smart automation into its operations, reflecting the industry’s shift toward efficiency and technology-enabled service delivery. Sterling Support Services Inc. has further expanded the group’s capabilities.
International expansion gained momentum in 2025 with the addition of ISTANA, creating opportunities for Filipino workers overseas, particularly in Japan. To support this effort, U-BIX Colleges introduced a Nihongo language program available through its curriculum and as a standalone course.
Healthcare remains a significant market. Since securing its first hospital client in 2005, FMI has expanded its presence in hospital facilities management, helping maintain clean, safe and functional environments.
As FMI enters its fourth decade, its challenge will be to scale technology-driven services while maintaining service quality and investing in employee development. Its long-term direction continues to rest on four core values: honoring God, excelling with customers, developing employees and growing profitably.
The anniversary marks not only the company’s longevity, but also its ambition to align business expansion with skills development and sustainable employment opportunities for Filipinos.
