Meralco 9-month sales up 0.8%

New customers keep growth steady; financial results due this week

Meralco’s consolidated energy sales rose 0.8 percent to 41,054 GWh in the first nine months of 2026, with new connections making up for softer overall demand.

Residential sales grew 1.5 percent and commercial use was up 1 percent. Industrial sales were nearly flat at -0.3 percent, as strong semiconductor output balanced slower steel and plastics activity.

The utility releases its full nine-month financial results this week. First-half figures already showed: core net income up 3.8 percent to ₱26.5 billion; revenues up 15.7 percent to ₱283.7 billion; and 8.3 million customers.

Chairman Manuel Pangilinan expects the company to top last year’s record net income of ₱50.6 billion, helped by both distribution and power generation businesses.

Meralco serves Metro Manila and parts of Rizal, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, Quezon, and Batangas.
