SMC Infrastructure gears up for 10% traffic surge this Undas

SMC Infrastructure is stepping up preparations to handle an expected 10 percent rise in vehicle traffic on its expressways during the upcoming Undas holidays, ensuring safer and smoother journeys for families traveling to visit loved ones. This advance planning matters because it helps prevent long delays, keeps emergency help readily available, and eases stress for the thousands of Filipinos making seasonal trips.

The company is working closely with the MMDA, TRB, LTO, and local governments to manage traffic flow, especially at key entry and exit points. Starting 12:01 a.m. on October 29 under DOTr’s Oplan Biyaheng Ayos, full staffing goes into effect, with quick-response teams, ambulances, tow trucks, and fire engines stationed along SLEX, Skyway, STAR Tollway, NAIAX, and TPLEX. Road repairs will be suspended from noon on October 29 until 10 p.m. on November 3 to keep lanes clear, while traffic monitoring centers and emergency assistance desks at Petron service stations will run 24 hours a day.

SMC Infrastructure also urges motorists to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and check their vehicles—including tires, brakes, and engines—before setting out. Drivers are reminded to top up their Autosweep RFID balances to avoid delays at toll gates, and those traveling across multiple expressways can enroll in the One RFID program for added convenience.
