Coca-Cola Europacific Aboitiz Philippines (CCEAP) and Shell Pilipinas Corporation have officially renewed their partnership for the Tapon to Ipon program, extending a collaboration first launched in 2023 to expand post-consumer PET bottle collection and recycling across the country.
Under the renewed agreement, nearly 30 participating Shell Select stores in Metro Manila and Bacolod City will continue to serve as official drop-off points for clear PET bottles. This setup makes recycling far more convenient for consumers, commuters, and motorists, who can simply leave their used bottles at designated bins while on their daily travels. Collected bottles are handled in coordination with Basic Environmental Systems and Technologies, Inc. (BEST) and sent to PETValue Philippines, the nation’s first bottle-to-bottle recycling facility. There, the bottles are processed into food-grade recycled PET, or rPET, which becomes raw material for new beverage containers—creating a true circular system for plastic packaging.
For both companies, the renewal strengthens a shared commitment to environmental action and community participation. “Partnerships play an important role in driving meaningful and lasting impact,” said Atty. Marc Cruz Cox, CCEAP’s Stakeholder Relations Director. He noted that since 2023, the alliance has made it simpler for people to take part in bottle recovery efforts, and expressed gratitude for having a like-minded partner to advance the initiative. Mike Ramolete, Vice President and General Manager of Shell Mobility Philippines, added that Shell Select stores are part of people’s everyday journeys, giving the partnership a unique chance to turn routine stops into environmental action.
Beyond convenience, the renewed pact means a more consistent and visible recycling network for Filipinos, higher volumes of bottles kept out of landfills and waterways, and a steady supply of locally recycled material that reduces reliance on new plastic. Ultimately, the continuation of Tapon to Ipon shows how business collaboration can turn individual small steps into meaningful environmental progress for all.
