San Miguel Corp. (SMC) has discussed its investment pipeline with the Board of Investments (BOI), seeking closer coordination with government agencies on regulatory requirements and support mechanisms for strategic projects.
The discussions took place during a Key Accounts Management Forum at SMC’s headquarters in Mandaluyong City, which brought together about 80 participants from the conglomerate’s business units and key government agencies.
The value and specific projects covered by SMC’s investment pipeline were not disclosed.
SMC vice chairman, president and chief operating officer John Paul Ang attended the forum, along with assistant vice president for government affairs and advocacy Cynthia de Castro and Rhogel Gandingco of the Office of the President.
Trade Undersecretary and BOI managing head Ceferino Rodolfo underscored San Miguel’s contribution to the Philippine economy, describing it as one of the country’s most diversified business organizations.
“Today’s forum reflects the shared commitment of the public and private sectors to work together in addressing challenges, identifying opportunities, and fostering an enabling business environment,” Rodolfo said.
BOI officials presented the Green Lanes Initiative and the Strategic Investment Priority Plan, outlining government mechanisms intended to facilitate strategic investments and help businesses navigate regulatory processes.
Representatives from the Bureau of Internal Revenue, Bureau of Local Government Finance, Bureau of Customs and Department of Energy also took part, giving SMC business units an opportunity to raise investment-related concerns directly with their government counterparts.
The BOI said San Miguel enterprises registered significant projects with the agency from 2010 to 2026, generating thousands of jobs. However, it did not disclose the aggregate investment value or employment figures.
The agency said its investor aftercare programs provide regular engagement, interagency coordination and tailored assistance to registered companies, with the aim of addressing operational concerns and supporting project implementation.
