Manila Water Co. Inc. affiliate Clark Water has opened additional solar power facilities in Pampanga.
The new solar installations include a 19-kilowatt system at the Yakal warehouse within its office compound and a larger 52-kW installation at its pumping station. The facilities will enhance the efficiency of one of its water treatment facilities and generate annual savings of around P200,000.
Clark Water first ventured into renewable energy in 2019 with the installation of a 23-kW solar facility at its wastewater treatment plant that resulted in cost savings of P500,000 since then.
“We get from the solar power facility around 5 percent of the total power requirement of Pumping Station 1 and around P40,000 to P50,000 savings on power cost monthly,” said Lyn Zamora, Clark Water general manager, in a statement.
