Basic Energy Corp. (BEC) subsidiary, Mabini Energy Corp. (MEC), has attracted a number of entities seeking to partner at the on-going development of a 50 megawatt (MW) wind project in Mabini, Batangas.
In a regulatory filing, BEC said while the MEC is bound by non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) with the various parties, it acknowledged the interest in the renewable energy project came after the parties were provided data from recent wind resource analyses of the area.
According to BEC, some of the firms had further discussions with MEC and later signified the intent to submit draft term sheets as partners in the Mabini wind project which covers approximately 4,860 hectares.
MEC will assess each term sheet and best select a partner as its strategic collaborator in the wind as well as other future projects BEC may participate.
Last year, the MEC erected a meteorological mast to conduct wind resource assessments and secured approval for the installation of a light detection and ranging equipment to further enhance its data gathering.
The 50 MW wind power farm is expected to operate and deliver energy to the grid in 2027.
Apart from wind energy, the company is also involved in oil exploration, geothermal resource developments and solar power development.
