Maynilad Water Services Inc. is on track to launch its new P1.6 billion water reclamation facility (WRF) in Barangay Cupang, Muntinlupa City, by the end of the year, the company said on Thursday. The facility, along with its sewer conveyance system, is designed to treat up to 46 million liters of wastewater daily and will serve around 33,000 residents in the communities of Sucat, Buli, Cupang, and Bayanan.
The Cupang WRF is part of Maynilad’s ongoing efforts to expand its sewerage services across the West Zone, ensuring that wastewater is properly treated before being discharged into the environment. Utilizing conventional activated sludge technology, the plant aims to remove pollutants from wastewater, contributing to cleaner local water bodies and a healthier ecosystem.
“Wastewater management is essential to safeguarding both public health and the environment, which is why we continue to invest in projects that ensure the proper treatment and disposal of wastewater,” said Ramoncito Fernandez, Maynilad president and CEO.
Along with the Cupang facility, Maynilad is also nearing completion of another major WRF in Tunasan, Muntinlupa. The two new plants will significantly expand the company’s sewerage coverage in the city and enhance its overall capacity.
Maynilad operates a 651-kilometer sewer network, with 23 wastewater treatment plants, and a combined treatment capacity of 684 million liters per day. These efforts are part of the company’s broader commitment to improving sewerage and sanitation services, while safeguarding water bodies in the West Zone.
Maynilad, the Philippines’ largest private water concessionaire, serves millions of customers across Metro Manila and nearby Cavite, playing a crucial role in the region’s water and wastewater management infrastructure.
